Bastet is the feline goddess of plenty and joy and also represents the protective aspects of female desire. A daughter of Ra, the sun God, Bastet was aligned with the lioness and exemplifies the attributes of ferocious protection when called upon. Her nature is playful and fun-loving when not needed to protect against enemies. Ceremonies in her honor were said to be the most popular in all Egyptian history.  

The lotus is a symbol of transformation and rebirth because it opens each day with the rising sun. The lotus also represents Lower (northern) Egypt because its shape resembles the Nile River Delta as it fans out to the Mediterranean Sea.
