Symbolizing rebirth, transformation, and self-creation, the scarab is the god Khepri (‘he who comes into existence’), representing the rising sun.  

Size varies between beads, but they are about 2cm by 3.2cm, and are made of soapstone. These beads come in a set of 6. Choose from a vertical or horizontal drill type. Due to the handmade quality, there will be some variance in size, color, design, and quality. 

Sustainably crafted in Luxor, Egypt by skilled multi-generational artisans. Crafted to capture the authenticity of the faience beads found in Ancient Egypt, packaged in a decorative box, and with an information card about scarabs, making it the perfect gift.

The ancient Egyptians believed that the scarab was the earthly manifestation of the god Khepri, and pushed the sun across the sky each day, only to disappear and magically re-appear the next morning. As such, it is a powerful amulet for self-creation, transformation, and rebirth. They were worn or carried by the living, and also buried with the dead to help them on their way to the afterlife. The base was usually inscribed with designs or hieroglyphs to form an impression seal.

    The scarabs are even better than they were pictured. They have a matt finish and look "ancient." The seller also included an ankh magnet that is now on my refrigerator door. I even loved the egyptian tissue paper that everything was wrapped in. Shipping was quick, and the seller responded promptly to a question I had.
