Maat (also spelled Ma’at) is the ancient Egyptian goddess of truth, justice, harmony, and cosmic order. She represents the fundamental principle that maintains the balance of the universe.
She is often depicted as a woman wearing an ostrich feather on her head, which is also the hieroglyph for her name and the symbol of truth. Sometimes she is shown with wings outstretched, offering protection and balance.
Maat plays a crucial role in the Weighing of the Heart ceremony in the afterlife (as seen in the Book of the Dead).
This statue is made from high-quality hand molded polymer. They were individually hand painted by skilled Egyptian artisans. We work with this artist closely in the ancient bazaar of Khan el-Khalili in Cairo, Egypt.
